Adjara

Deep valleys, old arch bridges, green steep slopes, villages spread very high over the slopes, so high that at nights the village lights seem to be stars and you can't believe that the settlement can be located there.

1. Goderdzi Pass
A pass at 2025 m (6644 ft) above sea level, on Arsiani Range, connecting Samtskhe and Adjara Provinces


2. Mtsvane Tba Lake
After several km of light hiking we'll see picturesque Mtsvane Tba Lake (Mtsvane Tba meaning in Georgian "Green Lake").

3. Khulo town
A tiny town located on a slope, an administrative center of Khulo Municipality

4. Khulo-Tago Cableway and the village of Tago
About 1700 meters (5577 ft) long, one-section Khulo-Tago Cableway connects Khulo town (right side of Acharistskhali River) to Tago village (left side of Acharistskhali River). As both stations are on high slopes, the cable car moves several hundred meters high over the river. The cableway is the common way for transportation for the residents of Tago.

5. Skhalta Cathedral
From Tago village, we can hike a little through Dzmagula village to Skhalta Valley or to return back to Khulo by the cableway and go to the valley by car. In Skhalta Valley we visit medieval Skhalta Church, a cathedral temple for highland Adjara.

6. Khikhani Fortress
The ruins of medieval stronghold, located on the top of a high range, near the border of Turkey, overlooking surrounding areas


7. Purtio Arch Bridge
Adjara is reach of medieval stone arch bridges, located over Acharistskhali and other rivers. Purtio Bridge is first among them to visit in the tour.

8. Dandalo Arch Bridge

9. Varjanisi Tank

10. Makhuntseti Arch Bridge

11. Makhuntseti Waterfall
A 50 meter (164 ft) high waterfall on the right tributary of Acharistskhali River


12. Machakhela Valley
A small and picturesque valley of Machakhela River (the right tributary of Chorokhi (Çoruh) River). Machakhela River takes its source in Turkey. Doe to the valley's natural and ecological value, there are protected areas on both Turkish and Georgian sections of the valley.

13. Tskhemlara Arch Bridge

14. Gonio Fortress
Previously called Apsarus or Apsaros, an ancient Roman stronghold near the mouth of Chorokhi (Çoruh) River

15. Batumi
The second largest city of Georgia and the capital of the Autonomus Republic of Adjara. The seaside city with modern high-rise buildings as well as classical 19-century architecture.

16. Petra Fortress
An ancient fortified town on Black Sea coast, on a rocky hill
