Javakheti is renowned for its multitude of lakes. Paravani Lake, the largest lake in Georgia, along with other significant lakes such as Kartsakhi, Khanchali, Madatapa, Saghamo, Paskia, and Bughdasheni, grace the landscape of Javakheti.

In addition to these major lakes, Javakheti boasts numerous smaller lakes, many of which are nestled in the Samsari Mountains. Among them, Levani Lake stands as the largest. Although less known, the other smaller lakes in the region contribute to its natural beauty.

Mt. Samsari

Bisna offers hiking tours to two high-mountain lakes in the Samsari Mountains. These lakes, simply referred to as the Samsari Range Lakes by Bisna due to their absence from maps, sit at an elevation of about 2800 meters (9186 ft) above sea level. To put this into perspective, it exceeds the altitude of lakes like Tobavarchkhili or Okrostskhali. Notably, one of the two Samsari Range Lakes ranks among the largest lakes at such high altitudes in Georgia.

The journey commences from the village of Didi Samsari in the Akhalkalaki Municipality, culminating at Paravani, the largest lake in Georgia.

Embark on a journey to the volcanic mountains of Javakheti and uncover the enchanting allure of one of Georgia's lesser-known highland lakes.
